About DEPARTMENT OF FARMER WELFARE
AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT

The Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Department (FWAD) of the Government of Madhya Pradesh aims to elevate farmers' incomes within the state and attain national food self-sufficiency. Prioritizing farmers as the central focus, FWAD operates cohesively, emphasizing the adoption of advanced farming technology, sustainable resource utilization, and risk management. The department's digital vision strives to unify stakeholders onto a seamless platform, providing vital information, monitoring input availability, and delivering innovative assistance to eligible farmers, ultimately elevating their income and achieving food self-sufficiency. The Department of Farmer Welfare & Agriculture Development is eager to embrace technologies like satellite imagery, drone data, and mobile devices for informed decision-making in agriculture and related fields. Hence, the "UNified Network for Agriculture Technology Initiative" (UNNATI), also known as Agri GIS, commenced in 2021. The project's goal was to leverage Remote Sensing and Geo-ICT tools, such as satellite imagery, drone data, GIS, GPS, and mobile technology, to facilitate informed decision-making, planning, and risk reduction in agriculture and allied sectors within the state. Initially planned for piloting in five identified districts and crops under RKVY funding, the UNNATI (Agri GIS) project expanded its scope due to the crucial role of technology-based yield estimation in prompt and unbiased claim settlements. As a result, it is now being implemented across the entire state with the support of NRSC-ISRO, MPCST, and centrally managed by MPSEDC Bhopal.
